The death of a 26-year-old man in Dunfermline, Fife, is being treated as suspicious, police have confirmed. Three people have been arrested by police in connection with the death of a 26-year-old man in Dunfermline, Fife.
The man died after what police described as an early morning altercation between two men in a car and two pedestrians. Arif Mahmood, who was from the town, died in hospital following an incident in Queen Anne Street at 02:00 on Sunday.
The incident happened in Queen Anne Street at about 02:00 on Sunday. Two men, aged 25 and 29, and a woman, 23, are due to appear at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
Police said it involved two occupants of a red Vauxhall Astra and a male and female pedestrian. The man died in hospital. Mr Mahmood's family said: "We are finding it extremely difficult to come to terms with our loss."
Det Insp Stuart Wilson, who is leading the investigation, said: "We'd like to reassure the public that we're pursuing various positive lines of inquiry to ensure the full circumstances around this incident are ascertained.
"A man has sadly lost his life and we're asking for any witnesses who saw this incident to come forward as soon as possible."
