The A1 between Newry and Belfast is flooded in many areas. The main Belfast to Dublin Road was flooded and Roads Service had to clear drains to allow the water to flow away.

BBC reporter Conor MaCauley, who was stuck in traffic on the road, said motorists could expect long delays. "There was very, very heavy rain and in fact at the time we got the call about this road, our men were out dealing with five other locations at that time," he said.
"There is still a lot of water on the Belfast-bound carriageway which is slowing down traffic," he said. BBC reporter Conor MaCauley said motorists faced long delays.
