(10 minutes later) | |
A search was under way after a member of the public reported that a light aircraft had crashed into the Moray Firth off Nairn in the Highlands.
A Sea King helicopter, from nearby RAF Lossiemouth, had arrived on the scene, but had found no trace of wreckage. No aircraft has been reported missing.
Two lifeboats were searching the Moray Firth and a coastguard rescue team were also taking part.
The alarm was raised just before 1700 BST.
The rescue helicopter was doing a wide sweep of the water off Nairn's east beach and a lifeboat was also visible conducting sweeps along the coast. |
