Smith, powered by his smash hit “Stay With Me,” landed nods in the coveted Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist categories. Meanwhile, Beyoncé made history by becoming the most-Grammy nominated female artist ever with nominations including Best R&B Song for “Drunk in Love” (featuring her husband Jay Z) and Best Urban Contemporary Album for her self-titled record. Smith, powered by his smash hit “Stay With Me,” landed nods in the coveted Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist categories. Meanwhile, Beyoncé made history by becoming the most Grammy-nominated female artist ever with nominations including Best R&B Song for “Drunk in Love” (featuring her husband Jay Z) and Best Urban Contemporary Album for her self-titled record.
The final group of nominations for Album of the Year — the biggest prize of the night will be announced during “A Very Grammy Christmas” on CBS at 9 p.m., featuring performances from Sam Smith, Ariana Grande and Big Sean. Both Beyoncé and Smith also earned nods for Album of the Year — the biggest prize of the ceremony alongside Beck, Ed Sheeran and Pharrell Williams.
Rapper Iggy Azalea joined Smith in the New Artist category and scooped up four nominations of her own, including Record of the Year and Pop Duo/Group Performance for the inescapable “Fancy,” along with Rap Album.
