Nassirudeen died just days before his 2 January birthday.
He and his friend were both stabbed after a row with a man at a bus stop outside The York pub, where they were found by police.
Nassirudeen, from Islington, was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. The second boy was taken to hospital.
Police said they were keeping an open mind about the motive for the attack.
They have also renewed appeals for witnesses to come forward with any information about the stabbing.
