Two Bedfordshire police officers have been charged over the alleged assault of a man in Luton. Two Bedfordshire Police officers are to appear in court in connection with an alleged assault of a man in Luton.
One officer has been charged with racially-aggravated assault against Faruk Ali, who has autism. Christopher Thomas, 33, of Welwyn Garden City, will face a charge of racially aggravated assault against Faruk Ali, 33, who is autistic.
He is also accused of perverting the course of justice and misconduct in a public office. Christopher Pitts, 39, of Bedford, and Mr Thomas both face charges of perverting the course of justice and misconduct in public office.
The second officer is also accused of perverting the course of justice and misconduct in a public office. Both are due before magistrates in September. They are due to appear at Aylesbury Magistrates' Court on 1 September.
Leicestershire Police are carrying out the investigation for the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).
