A woman has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following a flat fire in Ynysybwl, Rhondda Cynon Taf in which a 46-year-old man was injured. A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 46-year-old man died following a flat fire.
South Wales Police say the 28-year-old woman, from the Swansea area, is being held at Cardiff Bay police station. The man died in hospital after the fire in Ynysybwl, Rhondda Cynon Taf, at about 20:25 BST on Friday.
She was also taken to hospital following the fire above a shop on Friday night. A 28-year-old woman was also taken to hospital, but was later arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, and murder.
The man is critically ill at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant. She is being held at Cardiff Bay Police Station. A post mortem examination on the man is due to take place.
Det Insp Mark Lewis of South Wales Police said: "This is clearly a shocking incident but I would reassure the community of Ynysybwl that a thorough investigation has been commenced and an increased police presence will remain in the area over the coming days. He died at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant, South Wales Police said on Sunday, and he has not been formally identified.
The fire occurred in a block of flats and the scene remains cordoned off for forensic examination.
