Three people were killed in a motorway crash involving seven vehicles. A woman and a her 17-year-old passenger were among three people who died in a crash on the M62 motorway in East Yorkshire on Friday night.
Six people were also injured in the crash on the M62 in East Yorkshire, between junction 36 at Goole and the M18 turnoff at junction 35. A 52-year-old man also died in the accident which left six others injured.
Emergency crews were sent to the scene at 1845 BST on Thursday after six cars and a lorry collided. The accident closed the westbound carriageway. Humberside Police said an articulated lorry and six cars collided between junction 36 at Goole and the M18 turnoff at junction 35.
The injured are being treated at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. Humberside Police have appealed for witnesses. Police said the six cars were intending to take the turn off for the M18 when the accident happened.
The 36-year-old woman had been driving a Vauxhall Cavalier which left the carriageway and went down an embankment, killing her and the boy who was a passenger.
A Honda CRV vehicle driven by the 52-year-old man overturned in the accident. The driver was taken to hospital in Doncaster, but later died of his injuries.
The six other people who were injured were taken to hospital in Doncaster, their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening
The road was closed overnight as police investigations into the cause of the accident could take place.
