Diana jury views jewellery visit Dodi purchased 'engagement ring'
(about 1 hour later)
The Princess Diana inquest jury has seen new CCTV footage of Dodi Al Fayed picking out what his family says may have been an engagement ring. The Princess Diana inquest jury has been shown a copy of a receipt for a £11,600 "engagement ring" bought by Dodi Al Fayed hours before they died.
Just hours before the crash in which the couple were killed, Mr Al Fayed paid a visit to the Paris branch of jewellery store Alberto Repossi. Dated 30 August 1997, the receipt from the Paris branch of jewellery store Alberto Repossi contained the words "bague fiancaille" or engagement ring.
The grainy images showed Mr Al Fayed standing, surrounded by staff, and being shown several items of jewellery. The High Court heard the ring was from the "Dis-moi oui" range, which means "Tell me yes".
The couple died when their Mercedes crashed in a Paris tunnel in 1997. New CCTV footage of Mr Al Fayed in the store was also shown to the jury.
