Rizwan's father Aiyab Darbar said today he "could not have asked for a better son".
£10,000 reward
"He was a very good son to me. We never expected this to happen to a boy like him," he said.
"I couldn't have asked for anymore."
Police said today they were aware of a separate incident in the park on Saturday evening apparently involving three black male youths but said they were not linking the two events.
Mr Horne said: "We are not saying the park is a dangerous place to go."
West Ham Park remained closed on Monday afternoon while forensic officers searched the scene.
In part of the taped-off area inside the park, flowers had been laid in tribute to Rizwan by members of his family.
Rizwan's family has offered a £10,000 reward to help catch his killers.
