Hundreds of homes in Cambridgeshire are without telephone lines after thieves caused up to £100,000 of damage by digging up underground cables. Up to 800 homes in Cambridgeshire are without telephone lines which were damaged by thieves digging up underground cables.

A Cambridgeshire police spokeswoman said: "Police and BT have been liaising concerning the provision of a telephone service for the village. We are working around the clock to get the damage repaired and get people back on to the network BT spokeswoman
