A private plane has ditched in the sea off Jersey and a major air and sea search and rescue is under way. Wreckage has been found in the search for a light aircraft that ditched into the sea off Jersey.

The Manche Iles Express passenger ferry Marin Marie has also been diverted to help with the rescue. It was on route to Sark with 205 passengers on board. Jersey Airport warned the incident could cause some delays for commercial flights. Private boats and passenger ferries were involved in the early stages of the search but were stood down after about two hours.
