As the guilty verdicts were read out the defendants sobbed while a family member called out that the defendants had actually been trying to help Odwayne. After the hearing Odwayne's mother revealed that her daughter, Vencie Bowen, had been stabbed to death at school in Jamaica in 2003 when she was 16.
Mother 'now childless'
Ms McKenzie-Barnes said she had travelled to Birmingham to see justice done, as she did not get justice for her daughter's death.
"I say to mothers in England, know where your child is going, know what your child is doing.
"Show them love, Show them care, but sit them down and tell them when they have done wrong, no matter how old they are."
Sentencing on Darby, of Wyrley Way, Erdington; Hayles, of Amberley Grove, Aston; and Belle, of Heathway, Shard End; has been put back to 26 October. All three have been remanded in custody.
A fourth person, Lucien Darby, 18, was cleared of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
