Rival street gangs
The court heard Odwayne was killed because he fell out with Hayles, a member of a rival street gang.
During police interviews Hayles said he was a member of the Slash Crew, or Slash for Money Crew, and said he had fallen out with Odwayne, a member of the rival Bang Bang Crew.
Hayles told police he heard Odwayne had called him names and had tried to telephone him to remonstrate with him.
Prosecuting, Robert Juckes QC told the court that Odwayne and a friend, Leon Black, bumped into the defendants in New Street in the city centre, and a chase began.
Odwayne reached a bus stop in Jennens Road, outside the college, but his attackers pulled up in Darby's Volkswagen Polo.
They dragged him into the busy main road where he was stabbed twice, Mr Juckes said.
The teenager suffered "catastrophic" injuries to his heart but managed to flee the scene before collapsing some distance away.
As the guilty verdicts were read out the defendants sobbed while a family member called out that the defendants had actually been trying to help Odwayne.
