| A major police incident is under way in Newport after a man and woman are shot in the city. | |
| Armed police were called to the city's Willenhall Street off Corporation Road at 08:45 BST after reports of gunshots. | |
| Gwent Police said the couple are known to one another. | |
| "Armed police attended and found and male and female injured. Both were taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital with serious injuries," a police spokesman confirmed. | |
| "It's not believed anyone else was involved in the incident - both of those involved were known to each other. | |
| "Officers have recovered the firearm from the scene and officers are currently locating family members." | |
