A major police incident is under way in Newport, south Wales. A major police incident is under way in Newport after a man and woman are shot in the city.
Armed police have been called to Willenhall Street off Corporation Road. Armed police were called to the city's Willenhall Street off Corporation Road at 08:45 BST after reports of gunshots.
There are reports of gunshots and two wounded people. Gwent Police said the couple are known to one another.
"Armed police attended and found and male and female injured. Both were taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital with serious injuries," a police spokesman confirmed.
"It's not believed anyone else was involved in the incident - both of those involved were known to each other.
"Officers have recovered the firearm from the scene and officers are currently locating family members."
