"We also recommend that you wear a lifejacket and check weather and tidal conditions before setting off. Tell a shore contact where you are going and when you intend to be back. Tell them to call 999 and ask for the coastguard if you don't return on time. "The lifeboat was able to recover him very quickly," he said.
"It is also advisable to wear suitable footwear such as stout walking boots and take a torch and a mobile phone with you." "His location had been given very clearly and the person who had given the initial call, with sea conditions being very calm, it was quite easy to see.
"Two people who had been fishing near the gentleman had gone to his assistance and had managed to hold him against the rocks until the lifeboat crew could recover him.
"He received immediate attention before being transferred to the Causeway Hospital."
