The bodies were found when police were called to a house on Moonrakers estate in Devizes on Saturday morning. One of the victims is believed to be a retired police officer. The bodies were found when police were called to a house on Moonrakers estate in Devizes just before 11:00 GMT on Saturday.
Wiltshire Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths. Wiltshire Police confirmed the man was a retired police inspector with 30 years' service and the woman was his partner.
Officers said next of kin had been informed, but the names of the man and woman have not been released. Officers said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
A police spokesman said: "We can confirm that at shortly before 11am on Saturday... officers were called to a property at Moonrakers estate, Devizes. Det Ch Insp Ian Saunders said the man retired about five or six years ago.
"On arrival the bodies of a man and a woman were found. An investigation into the circumstances of their deaths is under way. Police described it as "an isolated incident" and they had "no reason to believe that anyone else is at risk."
"This is an isolated incident and we have no reason to believe that anyone else is at risk." They said next of kin had been informed, but the names of the victims had not yet been released.
