According to eyewitnesses a man who was trapped inside one of the vehicles was rescued but later died.
The condition of the other people is not yet known.

Neil Carruthers from Buxton Mountain Rescue said they were called to assist in rescuing two of the casualties that were further along the river near the cottages.
He said: "It is unclear how they came to be there but two people were found further along from where the crash happened.
"They were not in the river and we assisted with their evacuation."
