There are warnings of hazardous driving conditions on many main roads in south Wales following heavy snow overnight. Heavy snow is moving into west and mid Wales, with warnings of hazardous driving conditions on many main roads.

This was followed by Swansea and Carmarthenshire, with snow showers now moving further north but reducing.
More than 475 schools have closed, mostly across the south Wales valleys, Cardiff and Swansea.

There is a Met Office yellow warning - meaning be prepared - for snow in Carmarthenshire, Bridgend, Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Cardiff and Rhonnda Cynon Taf.
A further 2-5 cm of snow or sleet is likely in places, with perhaps as much as 10 cm over high ground.

Two separate road crashes in the snow caused problems in Llanelli, one involving a lorry closed the B4309 between Llanelli and Five Roads. Up to four vehicles were involved in another crash at Heol Goffa.
The overnight snowfall led to an earlier lane closure on the M4 westbound between junction 28, Tredegar Park, and junction 30, Cardiff Gate, but this has since been cleared. Traffic was also held up by earlier accidents on the M4 eastbound between Coryton and Cardiff Gate and on the A4232 between Leckwith and Culverhouse Cross.
Bad conditions are also reported across much of Rhondda Cynon Taf as well as on the A465 Heads Of The Valleys road. A jackknifed lorry blocked the A4046 at Ebbw Vale for a time.
