A woman has died and three people have been taken to hospital following a house fire in Birmingham. A fire at a house in Birmingham in which a woman died is being treated as murder, police have revealed.
West Midlands Fire Service was called to the detached house on Speedwell Road in Edgbaston just before 07:00 GMT. Three other people were injured as they tried to escape from the property on Speedwell Road, Edgbaston, just before 07:00 GMT.
The injured are a man and two women who fire crews said escaped by jumping from an upstairs window. West Midlands Police confirmed on Twitter that the suspected arson attack was now a murder inquiry.
West Midlands Police said it was treating the cause of the fire as suspicious and forensic teams were searching the house. West Midlands Ambulance Service said attempts to resuscitate the woman failed on the way to hospital.

A second woman, believed to be in her twenties, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with a broken leg, along with a man, in his thirties, who fractures to his wrist and ankles.
