Residents living near the prison were also prevented from approaching their homes at around 1430 BST, and were told not to return until further notice.
Local roads were also shut to traffic as police and ambulances arrived in the area.

The spokesman said prison staff routinely x-rayed packages coming into the jails.
Robert Paterson, 59, who lives 200 yards from the prison, said: "I came home from shopping and was told by a police officer that I couldn't get through to my house.
"My wife is still in our home but she has been told she can't leave."
