People are protesting outside a court in South Africa over the mauling to death by some 10 lions of a nine-year-old boy on a farm last month. The 10 South African lions that mauled a nine-year-old to death on a farm last month are to be killed.
The BBC's Mpho Lakaje outside the court in North West Province says people are demanding justice as no-one has been charged in connection with his death. The Department of Agriculture made the announcement as a judge ordered a further probe into the death, delaying a court case brought by trade unions.
The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) is taking court action to put pressure on local officials. The BBC's Mpho Lakaje says people in the North West Province have been angered that no-one has been charged in connection with the boy's death.
Coastu wants to see the farm owner arrested and the lions put down. Officials are going to the farm on Friday to confiscate the cats.
The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) had wanted immediate court action for the farm owner's arrest.
But it said it was pleased that an order has been issued for the lions to be killed.
