Two teenage girls have been arrested after the death of a 17-year-old girl who was stabbed in south-east London. Police are questioning two teenage girls over the murder of an 18-year-old in south-east London.

'Open mind' It is understood Sian, who lived in nearby Waddon, was attacked by a group of teenagers at about 2000 BST on Tuesday.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said the two girls were known to the victim and were arrested at the scene. "I would like to take this opportunity to reassure the local community that tragic events such as this remain extremely rare in the town centre."
"They were known to the victim, but we cannot comment on the nature of their relationship to her," he said.
Police said they were retaining an open mind about the motive.
A post-mortem examination was due to take place on Wednesday afternoon.
