Two people are still being questioned by police about the discovery of a live mortar bomb in County Armagh. Two men have been charged with conspiring to murder members of the security forces following the discovery of a live mortar bomb in County Armagh.
It was discovered, complete with a launching tube, close to a railway line, near the Cornakinnegar Road, Lurgan, on 5 April. The men, aged 22 and 23, were also charged with possessing an improvised explosive device and possession of articles of use to terrorists.
Army technical officers were called in to deal with the mortar at the time and the railway was closed as they worked to remove it. They were arrested in Lurgan on Monday following the discovery of the mortar and a firing tube on 5 April.
The two people are being held at Antrim police station. The pair are expected to appear before magistrates at Craigavon.
The mortar and firing tube, which were discovered near the Cornakinniger Road - close to where the main Belfast-Dublin railway line passes through the town, were removed by army technical officers.
