Professor Sir John Curtice We're still waiting on results from the West Midlands - but Labour think Richard Parker has won it. So who is he?
Polling expert Parker is the son of a docker and school secretary who left school at 16.
With Sandwell the last local authority to declare in the West Midlands mayoral contest, Labour need to win Sandwell by at least 11,456 votes. In 1989, he joined accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers and managed their relationship with the Labour Party for five years, before leaving to start a firm working with small and medium-sized companies and social enterprises.
In the last contest, Labour were 5,171 votes ahead of the Conservatives. So all now turns on whether Labour can win over 3,143 Conservative votes into their camp. He has described his move into politics as the "most important thing I've done in my life".
Our modelling of the results so far suggests Labour may well achieve this. Before the election, he pledged to bring the region's buses under public control and revamp its high streets.
He has also said he wants to create 150,000 extra jobs, tackle crime, and crack down on rogue landlords.
