Murder inquiry after body found Aberdeen murder victim is named

A murder inquiry has been been launched after the body of a man, believed to be in his mid-50s, was found in an Aberdeen city centre street. Police have released the name of a man found murdered in the centre of Aberdeen in the early hours.
Police and ambulance staff were called at about 0400 BST after reports of a man injured in Oldmill Road. He was dead when they arrived. The body of Alan Bennett, 56, from the Cove area, was found by police and ambulance staff responding to reports of an injured man in Oldmill Road.

Det Ch Insp Cooper said: "We are appealing to anyone who might have seen Alan to contact us know in order that we can find out where he went after leaving the Prince of Wales.
"Did you see anything or did you hear anything? Do you know anything? Get in touch with us, irrespective of what it is." "Anyone with any information - no matter how insignificant it may seem - is asked to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
