Two people have died after a head-on collision between two cars in Ayrshire. Two people have died and a third was seriously injured after a head-on collision between two cars in Ayrshire.
Three people were trapped in their vehicles after the crash on the A76, close to Calton Farm, Cumnock, at about 1216 BST. Three people were trapped in their vehicles after a teenager apparently lost control of a Ford Focus on the A76 near Cumnock shortly after midday.
Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment but the male driver of one car and the female passenger in the other were confirmed dead at the scene. The 18-year-old and the 50-year-old female passenger of a Peugeot 207 died at the scene.
The remaining male driver was taken by ambulance to Ayr General Hospital, suffering from chest injuries. The 49-year-old male driver of the Peugeot suffered serious chest injures and was taken to Ayr General Hospital.
