Trawler men in Irish Sea rescue Fishing boat is escorted to shore

A rescue is under way after a distress call from a trawler which was in danger of sinking in the Irish Sea. The lifeboat service is escorting a Kilkeel fishing boat to shore after it got into difficulty on the Irish Sea.
The vessel's pumps could not cope when it began taking on water. Pumps were airlifted to the trawler and lifeboats helped in the operation. The fishing boat was 19 miles south east of Kilkeel, County Down, when it starting taking on water at about 1000 GMT on Wednesday.
Roy Teggarty of Kilkeel lifeboat said a skipper and two crew were on board. The incident began at about 1000 GMT on Monday, 19 miles south east of Kilkeel. The Kilkeel lifeboat, which is now travelling alongside the fishing vessel, is helping to pump out water as it makes its way to shore.
"The situation seems to be under control at the moment," he said. Roy Teggarty of Kilkeel lifeboat said a skipper and two crew were on board.
