Arrest over serious town assault Man charged over street assault

Police have made an arrest after a 22-year-old man was seriously hurt in an assault during the early hours on a street in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion. A 22-year-old man has been charged with assault after a man was attacked in Aberystwyth town centre.
The attack happened on Sunday on the junction between Pier Street and New Street, outside a vacant shop that used to be Franks' clothing store. The incident happened on Sunday between Pier Street and New Street.
A 22-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of assault. The man has been charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and is to appear at Aberystwyth Magistrates' Court on 18 March.
The victim from Kington, Herefordshire, is in Morriston Hospital, Swansea, in a critical but stable condition. The victim, Bryan Kirkham, 22, from Kington, Herefordshire, is in Morriston Hospital, Swansea, where his condition is described as stable.
The incident happened at 0055 GMT on Sunday and Dyfed-Powys Police said due to the time and location, many people could have seen it. Dyfed-Powys Police said Mr Kirkham had suffered "significant head injuries" as a result of the incident.
Det Insp Greg Williams added: "Police are especially anxious to trace a female who spoke to police officers at the scene."
The area was cordoned off on Sunday morning and a tent erected at the place where the incident happened.
