(20 minutes later) | |
Three people are believed to have been injured in an explosion at a hotel in Aberdeenshire.
One person was rescued from the rubble and is believed to have suffered back injuries in the blast at the Drumtochty Arms hotel in Auchenblae.
The building is said to have partially collapsed in the incident just before 1730 GMT. The condition of the other injured people is not known.
It is believed the explosion is related to a liquefied petroleum gas cylinder.
Installation work had been carried out in the kitchen earlier in the day.
The Scottish Ambulance Service sent four crews to the scene and a specialist unit.
A firefighter at the scene told BBC Scotland that everyone in the hotel had been accounted for.
Most of the village's main street has now been cordoned off.
Inspector Gordon Nicoll, of Grampian Police, said: "There has been an explosion. It appears to be linked to the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder at the rear of the premises.
"Three people have been injured. At the moment we cannot give any indication as to the seriousness of their injuries.
"We are currently trying to establish if there is anyone still in the premises.
"There has been a partial collapse at the rear of the building."
Insp Nicoll added that the injured people were expected to be taken to either Aberdeen Royal Infirmary or Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. |
