The facility had its gates locked early Friday morning over reports of an "active shooter." The reports of "active shooter" at the facility appeared around 7 a.m. Friday morning. The Sheriff Office told later that authorities immediately engaged with the suspect and shot him. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Known as the ‘Cradle of Naval Aviation,” it is also home to the ‘Blue Angels’ aerobatic squadron.  The identity of the suspect as well as those killed have not been revealed.
