Up to 20 homes have been evacuated following a security alert in Limavady. A security alert which resulted in up to 20 homes being evacuated in Limavady has been declared a 'deliberate hoax' by police.

The public have been advised by police to stay away from the town centre and motorists are advised to take alternative routes. The residents have since been allowed to return to their homes following the hoax alert.
Police said a number of items had been removed for further examination.
