A man and a woman travelling in a northbound blue Vauxhall Meriva were killed. The married couple in their late 60s had been travelling northbound in a blue Vauxhall Meriva.

The driver of the Meriva was a 69-year-old man from Montrose, and his 68-year-old wife was in the front passenger seat. Their backseat passenger was a 78-year-old woman. She suffered serious leg, arm and hand injuries.
The driver of the Astra, a 28-year-old man from Arbroath, suffered serious head injuries and multiple fractures. His condition is described as critical.
