One senior police officer in Falluja told the Associated Press news agency that the vehicles used were trucks and that one of the two police posts had been levelled. "The two suicide car bombers burst into the two police centres in the western neighbourhood of Golan and the eastern area of Shurta, almost at the same time," a security official told the AFP news agency.
Another report said that one of the two police positions had been levelled by the explosions, which the US military said took place shortly before noon (0900 GMT).
Correspondents described seeing bodies strewn across the ground.
