The death of a 13-year-old boy in an incident on a river is being investigated by police. The death of a 13-year-old boy while canoeing on a river is being investigated by police.
The alarm was raised at about 1500 GMT on Saturday on the River Usk, near Brecon, Powys. His name has not been released, but Dyfed-Powys Police say he was from the Earley area of Reading, Berkshire.
Dyfed-Powys Police have taped off two areas of the river near a roundabout, about a mile east from the town. He was on a week-long organised trip when the alarm was raised at about 1500 GMT on Saturday on the River Usk, near Brecon, Powys.
The boy's identity has not been released, but he is believed to be from England. Police said an investigation was continuing into the circumstances. Police are investigating what happened and have taped off two areas of the river about a mile east from Brecon.
Next of kin have been informed, although a police spokeswoman said some relatives of the boy have yet to be told.
