David Danby, the chair of Kirton Parish Council and who lives nearby, said he woke shortly after 03:10. Lincolnshire Police has said that due to the ferocity of the fire it may take "a number of days" to complete its investigation and establish how the fire started.
The force has appealed for information about the occupants of the house and asked for any witnesses to come forward.
