(about 8 hours later)
A 23-year-old woman has been stabbed to death in Newham, east London. A woman has been stabbed to death at the offices of a college for overseas students in east London, police said.
She suffered fatal stab wounds to her chest and neck in an attack which is believed to have taken place on Monday evening. The 23-year-old suffered fatal stab wounds to her chest and neck in an attack, at about 1800 BST on Monday, in the office on Balaam Street, Plaistow.
A man and a woman have also been hurt, with the man left with life-threatening injuries, a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said. A man, 29, who suffered a neck injury and is in a stable condition in hospital, has been arrested.
Police officers found the victims after they were called to a building on Balaam Street. A second woman was also injured in the attack and was taken to hospital before later being discharged.
Detectives at Scotland Yard said they were not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the inquiry.
The arrested man is expected to be transferred to a police station for questioning later.
Police said the incident took place at an office, located above a shop, which is registered to St George's College.
On its website, the college says it "caters to the needs of students from around the world who desire to further their formal education".
