Sainsbury's customers face a second day without online grocery deliveries after a technical hitch hit its website.
Sainsbury's has fixed a "technical glitch" which put its online ordering system out of operation for two days.
The company said the problem had been identified and was being fixed but could not say whether the site would be back to normal on Friday.
But supermarket customers left without groceries will have to wait until Saturday before deliveries resume.
The fault means Sainsbury's is unable to access customers' orders.
Sainsbury's website is now back up and running and customers are able to amend existing orders or place new ones.
The supermarket giant estimates 20,000 people will be affected by the problem over Wednesday and Thursday, and they will be offered £10 compensation.
The company said about 20,000 people had been affected by the problem on Wednesday and Thursday and it has offered £10 vouchers as compensation.
'Totally happy'
In a statement, Sainsbury's said: "We experienced a technical glitch which affected our ability to process orders.
The fault was spotted on Tuesday afternoon and the company has been ringing people who booked a delivery to offer them compensation.
"We have been contacting customers whose orders have been affected over the last couple of days and would like to apologise once again for the inconvenience this has caused.
A spokesman said: "We don't want to get the site up and running until we are totally happy with it.
"We have spent just over 48 hours fixing the problem and the website has been thoroughly tested."
"We are still apologising for any inconvenience and we are offering customers compensation with a £10 e-voucher."
The supermarket giant said deliveries would resume from 0800 BST on Saturday.
When customers try to make an order through the Sainsbury's website an apology page appears.
A spokeswoman said no-one had hacked into the website and customers' details had remained secure during the shutdown.
The fault was spotted on Tuesday afternoon, and left customers facing an apology page when they tried to place order.
