A bus driver has escaped injury after flammable liquid was poured over him by a passenger in a County Antrim holiday resort. A bus driver has escaped injury after being set alight by a passenger in Portrush, County Antrim.
The incident happened when the driver stopped his vehicle at Ballywillan Road, Portrush. It happened when the driver stopped his Ulsterbus Goldliner at Ballywillan Road, Portrush, on Saturday night.
Before leaving the bus, the man demanded money from the driver. Before leaving the bus the man demanded money and when the driver refused he poured liquid on him and set him alight, damaging his clothes.
When the driver refused, the man poured liquid over him and set him alight causing damage to his clothes. No money was taken. Translink said it condemned the incident and that staff and passenger safety was a priority.
The company said that it would work with police in trying to catch the attacker.
His attacker is described as having very short hair and was wearing jeans and a stud earring.
