Two children are among four people who have been taken to hospital following an explosion at a house in South Lanarkshire. Eight people were inside a detached cottage when a gas explosion occurred in a downstairs living room.
The alarm was raised in Ayr Road in the village of Glespin at about 1435 GMT, on Saturday, Strathclyde Police said. Three girls were taken to hospital suffering burns and broken bones following the incident in Ayr Road, Glespin, at 1425 GMT on Saturday.
The five other people were checked over at the scene.
It is understood that at the time of the blast a heating engineer was inside the property, which is serviced by a gas canister.
A smell of gas had been reported at the house a number of days ago.
