David Miliband is expected to apologise to MPs and admit two US "extraordinary rendition" flights landed on UK territory, The Times says. David Miliband has told MPs two "extraordinary rendition" flights landed on UK territory in 2002.
The government has previously said they had no evidence of such flights. In a statement to MPs the foreign secretary said in both cases, US planes stopped on the UK dependent territory of Diego Garcia.
They have now got US confirmation that the two flights did stop in the UK dependent territory of Diego Garcia. He apologised for previous statements indicating this was not the case and said the information had only just come to light, after a US records search.
The foreign secretary will tell MPs the government did not know of the flights at the time and would ensure it did not happen again, the newspaper reports. The government has previously said it had no evidence of such flights.
Mr Miliband is expected to make the admission in a statement to the Commons at around 1315 GMT. .
A Foreign Office spokeswoman confirmed his statement concerned rendition, but would not comment on its content.
