Version 0 of 1.

The papers weigh up the government's plans to demonstrate to non-EU migrants that UK citizenship comes with responsibilities as well as rights.

The Independent thinks ministers are pandering to the pernicious idea, stoked by xenophobic media, that immigrants are a drain on society.

The Guardian says ministers want to debate immigration on terms set by public opinion rather than facts.

The Daily Mail says more than 250,000 people could get citizenship each year.

Aircraft woes

A dramatic photo of an airliner which appears to be just a few feet above the roofs of two houses fills nearly half of the front page of the Times.

The paper explains how thousands of homes in rural areas will be "blighted" by aircraft noise because of the biggest reorganisation of flight paths.

The Daily Telegraph reports on a breakdown of the baggage handling system at Heathrow's Terminal 4.

It says chaos returned to the airport as thousands of people were affected.

France sighting

The Sun and the Daily Mirror have the same lead story - they report that the hunt for Madeleine McCann has moved to southern France.

It comes after a Dutch student spotted a girl matching Madeleine's description at a motorway service station.

Crucially, says the Sun, the child had a blemish in the pupil of her right eye - just like missing Madeleine - and she responded when called "Maddie".

The Daily Express says the student is "100% certain" it was Madeleine.

Trunk road

Several papers introduce the new supercar that is faster than a Lamborghini - but is made of wood.

The appropriately named Splinter - top speed 240mph - was built using a combination of maple, plywood and MDF.

"This'll carve 'em up" says the Sun while for the Daily Star it's a "wood little runner".

The Daily Express describes how the petrol-driven coupe has a laminated wood veneer chassis and wooden wheel rims inside 20-inch diameter tyres.
