A couple more photos from tonight’s debate:
If you’re just tuning in, tonight’s debate is on the second raft of reforms demanded by Greece’s lenders in return for negotiations for a third bailout.
It contains two key measures (as we outlined a mere 16 hours ago!). One is a new code of civil procedure, to reform and speed up Greece’s courts.
The second is to implement Europe’s bank recovery and resolution directive. That will include measures to ‘bail-in’ creditors when a bank fails.
Tonight’s legislation will also shake up the rules on repossessing homes, to make it easier for banks to act on bad debts (and evict people) (details here).

Helena Smith sums up the Greek PM’s speech:
Alexis Tsipras did, after all, decide to address the House tonight, and once again has conceded that mistakes were made in the way Greece conducted negotiations with international creditors (is he thinking of his former finance minister?) But, he says, playing on Greek pride “a battle not waged, is a battle not won ... one day the battle will bear fruit.” Europe, he adds, won’t be the same after July 12 (the day of Greek capitulation). The leftist leader repeats that his government will be forced to enact a programme it doesn’t believe in - that surely is not music to creditors ears? “In reality we made difficult choices and now we must all adapt to the new situation,” he says, repeating that the choices were between Grexit, a disorderly defaut and enforcing a difficult programme.
Tsipras also went out of his way in his speech tonight to deflect speculation that homes could be repossessed under his government. “We are the guarantee that that will never happen,” he says. Noone who is poor, who lives in the poorer areas of Greece, will see his/her home taken aware, he says.
“Without that guarantee we don’t exist.”
