Authorities are investigating an "active shooter incident" at a naval recruitment centre in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Four Marines were killed and at least one police officer was inured after a gunman opened fire at two military facilities in Tennessee.
Fire Chief Randy Jackson said that paramedics were standing by but had not transported anyone at this time, according to CNN Officials said the incident in Chattanooga was being considered as possible act of domestic terrorism. The sole gunman, who was able to fire up to 30 shots, was killed by police officers.
"Lives have been lost from some faithful people who have been serving our country, and I think I join all Tennesseans in being both sickened and saddened by this," said Governor Bill Haslam.
One witness told broadcasters: "It was just another regular day. He pulled up and I didn't think anything of it. He had his drop-top. He lifted a big black gun. It was one shot and then it was endless shots."
CBS reported the gunman was dead a couple of hours after the shooting began, quoting police sources. In a tweet, the Chattanooga Police Department said in a tweet that the situation was over and that details would be forthcoming.
