DUP councillor Brian Kingston said the trouble had been "causing great upset and anguish to residents".
"I have spoken to quite a few residents and they are just fed up with this and they do not want to see this trouble happening within their area," he added.
"They (the youths) were masked, they had petrol bombs, bottles and rubble and did damage to traffic lights.
"Bins were stolen from some residents and a Silverstream bus was attacked which was coming from the Ballysillan area."
