Emergency services in Madagascar are on high alert for a tropical cyclone which is expected to hit the north-east of the Indian Ocean island.

Ivan, a Category Four cyclone, has winds of more than 200km/h (125mph) and is capable of uprooting trees.

It is due to make landfall shortly, about 250km (155 miles) north of the capital Antananarivo.

Last month at least 13 people died when the first cyclone of the season tore through western parts of Madagascar.
