French media said a decapitated body was found at the site, along with a flag bearing Islamist inscriptions. A decapitated body has been found near the site of an attack on a gas factory in eastern France, according to a legal source.
French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve was heading to the site. An attacker carrying a suspected Islamist flag killed one person and injured several others, the source said.
The assailant entered the factory near Lyon and set off several small explosive devices. A decapitated body was found nearby, another source said.
“According to the initial findings of the inquiry, one or several individuals on board a vehicle drove into the factory. An explosion then took place,” AFP was told.
“The decapitated body of a person was found nearby the factory but we do not yet know whether the body was transported to the place or not,” added the source, who also said that a flag with Arabic writing on it was found at the scene.
A man believed to be the person who carried out the attack has been arrested, according to sources close to the inquiry.
The French Interior minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, said he was heading immediately to the scene, his office said.
The attack took place at about 10am local time, according to local media.
