The body of a man has been found on a houseboat on the River Medway in Kent.

Police said a murder investigation was launched after they were called to the vessel moored near Cannon Lane Bridge, in Tonbridge, on Friday afternoon.

Officers have appealed for anyone who was in the area of the bridge or the footpath beside the river between midday and 1600 GMT to contact them.

Police believe the victim was aged between 50 and 65. Two men have been arrested in connection with the death.

The boat was moored between Cannon Lane and Vale Road, near an industrial park.

Supt Paul Godstone, of Kent Police, said a number of witnesses had already come forward, but he was still keen to hear from anyone who might have known the victim, or who had used the footpath running alongside the river.
