A reward of £2,000 has been offered to help find a thief who stole a woman's handbag as she lay dying in the road.

Ethel Irene Ditcher, 82, was walking home from the supermarket when she was hit by a lorry on Leigh Road in Leigh, Greater Manchester, on 4 February.

A man was spotted stealing her purse before running away. Police called it a "truly disgusting and callous act".

The Crimestoppers reward is for information which leads to the man's arrest and conviction.

He is described as white, about 6ft (1.8m) tall, between 30 and 40, and of medium build with a brown beard.
