The French foreign minister, Laurent Fabius, will travel this weekend to Egypt, Jordan, Israel and the West Bank for meetings that the government asserts will be an effort to restart peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. Although the French are not talking publicly about it, the other pressing issue for Mr. Fabius is the proposed nuclear deal with Iran. Talks between Iran and its negotiating partners over Iran’s nuclear program are set to finish by the end of June. In Jordan, Mr. Fabius will meet with his Jordanian counterpart as well as with King Abdullah II. |
